Project Description
Indulgence for body and mind
Aromatherapy is a holistic health practice that uses essential oils extracted from plants to promote physical and emotional well-being. The word “aromatherapy” comes from the Greek words “aroma” (fragrance) and “therapy” (treatment).
Essential oils are highly concentrated liquids that contain the active constituents of plants. They are extracted from plants through a variety of methods, including steam distillation, cold pressing, and solvent extraction.
Essential oils are thought to work by stimulating the olfactory system, the part of the brain that is responsible for smell. When we inhale essential oils, the molecules travel to the olfactory bulb, which is located at the base of the brain. The olfactory bulb then sends signals to the limbic system, which is responsible for emotions, memory, and behavior.
Aromatherapy is believed to have a variety of benefits, including:
- Relaxation. Essential oils such as lavender, chamomile, and ylang-ylang are often used to promote relaxation.
- Pain relief. Essential oils such as peppermint, eucalyptus, and wintergreen can be used to relieve pain.
- Improved mood. Essential oils such as bergamot, grapefruit, and orange can be used to improve mood.
- Boosted immunity. Essential oils such as lemon, tea tree, and oregano can be used to boost immunity.
“If you want to relax, watch the clouds pass by if you’re laying on the grass, or sit in front of the creek; just doing nothing and having those still moments is what really rejuvenates the body…”.
